Itakiso shrine

The deities of this shrine are Itakerunomikoto, Ohyatsuhimenomikoto, and Tsumatsuhimenomikoto. As one, they are called the Idakiso-sanjin (the three Gods of Idakiso). Itakerunomikoto is known as the God who bestowed seeds of trees to our country and it is written in the part of “The Appearance of the Treasure Sword” in the “Nihonshoki”. This deed led him to be known as Isaoshinokami. It is said that the Idakiso-sanjin were originally enshrined at the Hinokuma-Kunikakasu Jingu shrine but were transferred to the Sando area to give way to the Shinto shrine. It is said that each of them had relocated to their current spots in 702, but the Idakiso-jinja shrine stayed in the Sando area. The Uzueno-matsuri which is a festival to ward off the evil is held every year on January 15th. On the Eve of the festival (the 14th), a fortune-telling festival called Kayuura ritual is held to predict the year’s harvest.
