This temple is the second Fudasho (a temple that issue sacred amulets) of the pilgrimage of the Saigoku-Sanjūsansho (Saigoku 33 Kannon Pilgrimage) and is the head temple of the Guze Kannon-shu. It is said that the shrine was opened in 770 by a monk called Ikou from China. It is built halfway up the mountain Nagusa-yama where you can get a full view of the Wakano-ura and also very famous for its beautiful cherry blossoms. The official name for this temple is Kimiisan Kongohoji Gokokuin although most people call it Kimiidera for the temple being in the Ki area and having three wells within its ground.
