Horaisan Shrine

According to the shrine’s records, it is said that it started when Wakeno Kiyomaro had prayed for the coming of the deity of Yahatanokami in 773, the era of Emperor Kounin.  The shrine has four main halls which worships the Sarutahiko Ohkami, Sugawara Ohkami, Yahata Ohkami, and the Oyamatsumi Ohkami. It seems that it became the guardian of the manor after the first establishment of Yamashiro Jingo-ji Kasedanosho in 1184. The “Kinokuni Kaseda no Sho-ezu“(1491), which is assumed to be a copy of the “Kaseda no Shoe-zu桛田庄絵図“, and the “Kaseda no Sho-ezu* 賀勢田庄絵図 (*different kanji characters)”(1650) are kept in the Jingo-ji temple. The four buildings of the current main hall have building tags that say they were built in Keicho 19 (1614) and are designated as Important Cultural Properties along with the pictures.
