Emperor Shotoku visited Tamatsu-shima (Wakano-ura) on October, 765. He went along by the Kinokawa river on his outward journey and came back to the Heijo-kyo by crossing the Kyoshi mountain pass leading to Izuminokuni (Osaka). In the ancient document “Shoku Nihongi”, you can see that he took the following route; from Tamatsushima to Izuminokuni Hine-gun passing through Kishimuranokarimiya along the way.
