Nagusayama(Wakayama city, Height above sea level: 228.6 m)
The mountain blissfully stands in the eastern direction from the Wakano-ura area. Halfway up the mountain, there is a temple called “Kimii-dera” which is the second Fudasho (a temple that issue sacred amulets) of the pilgrimage of the Saigoku-Sanjūsansho (33 temples in the Kinki region). The scenery reflecting on the peaceful sea surface of Wakano-ura is magnificent. The poets of the Manyoshu had composed numerous Wakas of this view.
大意I thought the mountain will give comfort to me because its name is “Nagusa-yama*” but it was only in name. It didn’t sooth any of my broken heart, not even a piece of my pain I feel inside.
