The Nankaido, an ancient government road, passes the late Kinokuni Kokufu provincial office (estimated location: Fuchu, Wakayama City). The ruins of the Kinokuni provincial office have not yet been found. This route leads you to the ancient burial mounds while walking along the Awashima Road. The ancient stationers who had taken the road of Nankaido might had seen the burial mounds built by the local tribes in the distance like you would on this route.
