Jogyoji no byakushin

The Jogyoji Temple has a 400-year-old birch tree which is a natural monument designated by the prefecture. It also houses many precious statues of other abandoned temples. There is a Jizo-do on the left side of the precincts. This Jizo Bodhisattva was the main statue of Saifukuji Temple, which was abolished in the early Meiji period, and is said to have been made by Kobo Daishi. The main statue of Yakushi Nyorai of Gada-ji Temple (now abandoned) is also preserved in this Jizo-do.
