The path of Nankaido goes along the north side of the riverbank of Kinokawa, passes through Kii-kokufu, and goes across the Kitan strait from Kada heading to Yura in Awajishima island. In the ritual book called “Engishiki”, there is a name of an Ekiya (accommodation) as “Hagiwara, Kada 8-hiki each”. also, there is a written record in 811 that says, “Discontinuance of Hagiwara, Nagusa, and Kada”.
